Collaborations in Chaos: the Game!

Due to extreme weather events and climate change, disasters are happening more and more often all around the globe. Would you like to know how civil servants and humanitarians seek to govern disasters and provide relief to affected populations? How they make decisions and allocate life-saving resources in contexts of emergency and scarcity? Then you should attend this session to playtest the game that we, a team of academics and serious game artists, are developing. Based on ethnographic real-life scenarios from civil servants working for the Department of Disaster Management Affairs in Malawi, an aid-dependent country in southern Africa, the game provides its players with an experiential insight into the everyday realities of international humanitarian aid work in times of climate change.
